Congratulations to the Cadet D1 John Rennie Predateurs for winning the De Mortagne Tournament over the weekend, uspetting Sainte Sacrement in the finals by a score of 4 to 2.

After starting the tournament 0 and 2, the Preds rallied by defeating La Ruche in the quarter finals and then beating College Bourget in the semi-finals (who they previously lost to in the preliminary round).  This set up a matchup against a very strong Sainte Sacrement squad who came into the finals ranked second in the province, having only lost one regular season game.

It did not start well for the Preds, who gave up a goal just over a minute into the game.  However, their resilience and tenacious forecheck led to a response marker from Cole Maroun midway through the first to tie the game.

Josh Felton broke through three minutes into the second period, giving the Preds the lead heading into the third.  A solid commitment to team play, along with a brilliant performance from Aidan Farion in goal, enabled them to keep the lead; which was extended late in the third off a tip in front from Mitchell Phillips.  A late goal from Saint Sacrement cut the lead to 1 with over a minute left in play, but Captain Michael Stephenson would quickly provide the dagger with an empty net goal to ensure the tournament victory for the Preds.

Kudos to all players, along with Head Coach Mathieu Montreuil for the victory!

The Cadet Preds have three remaining games until the Christmas Break; with their only home affair at Westwood taking place coming this Friday (3:00pm) against Mirabel.
